Donald Trump is in a unique position. Only Theodore Roosevelt has shared his political freedom with no real allegiance to either established political party. From this position ,if he chooses, he could accomplish truly remarkable advances for our democracy. If he recognizes the greatness of America is its ability to assimilate diversity, not Zenophobia. We need to understand that the problems of the middle class are more related to the rise of technology that limits the need for employees,not immigration.
If he fixes this problem with a far reaching platform of infrastructure,rebuilding as well as a large program to increase the need for manufacturing, it will go a long way to even out the wage inconstencies that anger the middle clas. He needs to internalize the thought that American workers who made cars etc, can make anything and find products for them to build that benefit the environment and the population at large.
He has another opportunity. He can make America stand for tolerance and decency.
